Whether or not the Welgun has what it takes to challenge the current SMG meta of MP40 and MAC-10 remains to be seen, but Activision had this to say about the weapon: “In Multiplayer, it can reliably down targets in four shots — or three, with a shot to a vital area mixed in — within a category-standard effective range.”
The weapon was also described as a “heavy full-auto SMG.” With all of this in mind, it’s safe to assume that the Welgun will be quite deadly in close to medium ranges.
Best Welgun loadout for Warzone Pacific
Muzzle: Recoil Booster
Barrel: 320mm SA Shrouded
Optic: Slate Reflector
Stock: Gawain Skeletal
Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop
Magazine: .45 48 Round Mags
Ammo Type: Subsonic
Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
Firstly, we run the Recoil Booster to fix one of the Welgun’s primary weaknesses; its rate of fire. By using this muzzle we increase our time to kill in closer engagements at the cost of accuracy.
Next up we equip the 320mm SA Shrouded, which will somewhat diminish the Welgun’s run-and-gun capabilities but heavily improve the weapon’s control and stability. This attachment also increases the size of the one-hit-kill area on targets.
We keep things simple with the Slate Reflector to allow for easy target acquisition at close to mid-ranges, however, you can use any optic you prefer.
To compensate for the heaviness of the 320mm SA Shrouded we have equipped, we opt to put on the Gawain Skeletal, which gives us better movement and sprint to fire speed and also has the added benefit of better accuracy and recoil during sustained fire.
For the underbarrel we choose the M1941 Hand Stop for better recoil control and accuracy.
Finally, we reach the crux of our Welgun build, the .45 48 Round Mags. These magazines give us more bullet velocity, damage, and bullet penetration. In combination with the 320mm SA Shrouded, these two give the weapon a ridiculously low time-to-kill.
Lastly, we have the Subsonic ammo type and Fabric Grip. Subsonic ammo allows us to not appear on enemy minimaps when we shoot, and the Fabric Grip is used to salvage some of our aim down sight and sprint to fire speed.
Best Perks and Equipment for the Welgun
Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
Kit: Fully Loaded
Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor
Sleight of Hand and Fully Loaded allows us to enter the match with more maximum ammo and reload our massive 48 round magazine faster.
The Deagle lets us finish off opponents at medium ranges if we somehow manage to run out of bullets, and the Thermite is used to flush out any enemies cowering in fear behind cover. Rounding out our equipment is the Heartbeat Sensor, which we recommend for all Warzone Pacific loadouts.
That’s the best loadout for the Welgun in Warzone Pacific Season 1.5. Once kitted out, SMG fans can continue to dominate close to mid-range engagements with this brand new weapon.
