Since then we have had the not very liked Black Ops Cold War in 2020 and the inconsistent Vanguard just a couple of months ago and with it, major changes were made to Warzone as well.
Since late last year, we have seen strong rumours flying around Reddit that the next COD title will be a sequel to the Modern Warfare released in 2019 and with it comes a set of expectations carried from the last big hit of the franchise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date
As of right now, there is no official date to mark our calendars regarding the next Call of Duty title. If past years are any indication we should get official news about the game around May or June before the expos season.
Regarding a release date for Modern Warfare 2, we could also use previous games as a reference and the last quarter of the year should be welcoming the sequel between October and November.
Of course, whenever we get official information from the Activision team or any other partnering developer we will update you as well.
Platforms and features
Once again, as there are no legitimate facts about the Modern Warfare 2 title we can expect that the game should arrive on the more popular hardware including the Microsoft and Sony consoles as well as PC equipment.
One thing that we are curious to look for is that it could be that the game will only be available to next-gen consoles such as the Xbox X|S series and the PS5, especially since the former has quietly discontinued their Xbox One devices late in 2020, according to our IGN friends.
We don’t want to jump to any conclusions but it is a plausible thing that could end up happening, thus far the only thing we have to do is play the waiting game.
COD Modern Warfare 2 leaks
While no official word has been said, one of the most recurrent rumours about the Modern Warfare sequel is the campaign plot that would face our heroes in a “secret war against the Colombian cartel” which definitely sounds interesting.
Aside from that, things like improved realism, a refined multiplayer experience that was already good to start with and throwback maps like Favela or Quarry are very alluring features that hopefully will put the Call of Duty franchise back in the winning column.
