3D Diamond Cards are coming to Hearthstone with Forged in the Barrens

Blizzard has prepared a bunch of new cosmetic items for when Forged in the Barrens launches, including brand new Diamond Cards, 3 new Coins, a dozen of new Hero skins, and more.

Blizzard has revealed a brand new type of cosmetic items which will come to Hearthstone later this month - Diamond Cards.

The first two Diamond cards showcased are legendary cards from the Forged in the Barrens expansion, Blademaster Samuro and Bru’kan, and they will be the only two Diamond cards for this expansion.

But what are these Diamond cards? Well, they are special cosmetic-only "skins" for cards that look even more awesome than standard Golden cards.

They clearly draw inspiration from some fan-made ideas shared over the years and are basically showing minions in a pseudo-3D form, with minions breaking the boundaries of their cards.

What are Diamond cards in Hearthstone and how to get them?

These Diamond Legendary cards feature new 3D animations, expanded space for card art, and a new Diamond border.

Once again, it is important to note that these cards are purely cosmetic, they don't impact gameplay in any way, and in that regards work the same as their "plane" counterparts.

Blizzard will not print too many of these cards, and we expect to see not more than 2 or 3 per expansion cycle.

So, they are clearly quite unique and rare, and you are probably wondering what do you need to obtain them?

Well, Blademaster Samuro is locked behind the Forged in the Barrens Rewards Track, while Bru’kan is coming as a reward for collecting all the legendary cards from the Forged in the Barrens expansion.

Here are the exact requirements:

  • Diamond Blademaster Samuro: Obtained by purchasing the Forged in the Barrens Tavern Pass and immediately claiming the card on the Rewards track.
  • Diamond Bru’kan: Obtained by collecting all Legendary cards from the set.

While for Samuro you will only need to buy the Barrens Tavern Pass, Diamond Bru’kan will be some heavy achievement, as you will need to collect all of the ~25 Legendary cards, how much will the expansion presumably have, and that requires both a lot of money and time to grind.

Additionally, the new Barrens Tavern Pass has been fully revealed, which now features even more rewards than the previous one.

It keeps all the implemented changes based on player feedback, and it adds new skins, and even more ways to earn gold and packs, including 14 Golden Cards, which weren't available before.

This time around, Blizzard adds three new cosmetic Coins, one as a level 90 reward for the Barrens Tavern Pass, one for collecting 135 cards from the new expansion, and one for collecting all 135 cards from Scholomance Academy.

Forged in the Barrens is scheduled for release on 30th March.
