"I feel really really bad for legitimately ASMR artists that spend their whole life trying to make interesting, cool, ASMR content," Pokimane said on her 20th June stream, adding that one of the reasons she stopped doing her own ASMR content was due to the amount of "effort and dedication it takes."
"For people to come into your category and get to the top of it by doing splits with their butt out and gurgling to a mic, it sucks, it doesn't do the category justice," Pokimane continued.
Pokimane's far from the only content creator that has fired shots at the new trend to which all the former hot-tub streamers jumped on after seeing their viewership decline with the creation of a dedicated "Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches" category, as CodeMiko mocked Amouranth and Indiefoxx live on her stream.
Despite two of the biggest influencers of the ear licking meta banned, the ASMR Twitch category is still filled with streamers trying to cash in on the trend, with less suggestive poses to avoid getting flagged and suspended.
