Blizzard has released its next proposed patch onto the PTR servers for players to play around with to test these new changes, with Ana, D.Va, Roadhog and Sombra being the focus of these changes.
Ana’s healing ability, the Biotic Grenade, has had its health boost reduced by 50% since, according to the developer, it was providing too much healing, in particular to heroes with larger health pools.
D.Va, meanwhile, has had her health and armour stats swapped (200 health to 400, 400 armour to 200) in an attempt to make her a little more fragile to heroes especially well suited to destroy tougher characters. Meanwhile her Fusion Cannon has had its damage reduced but its bullets per shot increased from 8 to 11 in a bid to increase its consistency.
The changes to Roadhog focus entirely on his Chain Hook ability, with quality of life changes making the ability’s interaction feel a little more reliable and understandable to everyone, from player to target.
For example if a hooked player leaves Roadhog’s line of sight before being pulled in, then they are released. This line of sight check now comes from Roadhog, as well, rather than the hook, and those that are pulled towards Roadhog are deposited directly in front of him (unless he drastically rotates first).
Lastly is Sombra, whose ability to hack players has been reduced by 0.2 of a second to make it easier to activate the ability, which Blizzard claims was difficult for players to do, even when they had the element of surprise.
Though these are the only changes on the patch so far, they could well change by the time they come to Overwatch properly, while other publicly untested changes could also be added by the time it comes to the game.
There are a number of bug fixes and a handful of general updates and changes to Overwatch, also, but it’s a fairly light patch so far. You can check the full details on the Overwatch blog post.
It’s not yet known when the patch will make it over to the official Overwatch servers, but expect it in the coming weeks after a trial period on the PTR.
