A brand new gameplay trailer has dropped for Injustice 2, introducing (and teasing) some of the new gods that will be making an appearance in the sequel to Warner Bros Mortal Kombat-style superhero brawler.
It’s very cinematic-heavy, admittedly, but it at least gives us a tease of some of the characters that will be making an appearance. The expected reappearance of Batman and Superman aren’t especially exciting, but there’s a few recognisable names in there that DC fans might be looking forward to.
Harley Quinn, for example, pops up in a cut-scene, while The Flash battles it out with Reverse Flash in a duel on a busy highway.
There are glimpses of gameplay in here though, such as returning character Green Arrow and his exploding arrow, or Green Lantern’s rather grandiose summons. There’s even a slight tease of Captain Cold.
While Injustice: Gods Among Us didn’t make much of an impact in the esports world, the FGC scene has grown quite significantly and more and more developers and publishers are getting involved with competitive gaming.
Whether Injustice 2 has what it takes to make an impact against the likes of Street Fighter 5, Super Smash Bros and, heck, maybe Tekken 7 will have to wait until we see more from the game, but if Warner Bros is serious about esports it will need to start laying the groundwork now so it’s ready out of the gates.
Injustice 2 is due for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on the 16 May 2017.
